Her eyes are dark brown, although when her dojutsu is active she has a lovely crimson sharingan with three tomoe, her namesake, which she has always found to be a silly choice of names that her parents made.

Tomoe's moods are mercurial, but getting to know the "real Tomoe" is a challenge for anyone. It's not that she impolite or cold, or event distant. She trusts many in the village with issues of village safety, but she wouldn't trust her heart or inner thoughts with any of them. Despite this, she has been working at appearing more friendly and more open as the Hokage to hide this inner emotional wall. This results in her coming across as slightly manipulative to some, but perhaps that is a necessary attribute for political dealings as the Hokage.

At her core, she is protective and proud of her village and her clan. There is no delineation between the two for her; they are one and the same as neither can exist without the other. Towards those that would wish ill will against Konoha she reacts fiercely like mother bear protecting her cub (but she will equally fiercely deny having any innate maternal instincts).

Tomoe was born into the Uchiha clan and pushed by her family to be a skilled ninja and live up to the clan's reputation for producing excellent ninja. She has an older brother and a younger sister, but has never been particularly close to them despite their status as immediate family. It's not that they don't get along, it's just that they are more of acquaintances than close family.

Tomoe entered the Academy at the usual age and graduated at the average age with no particular fanfare or honors, unlike both her older brother and younger sister. Her career as a genin was similarly average. Although she had an intelligent streak, she seemed more of an unmotivated dreamer than a highly skilled ninja with much potential, which is incongruous with her current standing. Her family felt she should be a better ninja and her father and siblings spent many hours trying to train her in hopes she would become a better and more skilled ninja.

She and her squad became chunin together, passing their exam on the first attempt. It was after she attained the rank of chunin that Tomoe was inspired and motivated to become a better ninja. She met Shoichi Yamagata, an older ninja who was everything that she was not - highly skilled, impassionate, driven - and became infatuated with him. He was the consummate ninja and it was rumored he was a prodigy in the making. Her naive young flirtings drew no attention from him, so she took the advice of a friend and decided to reach him by demonstrating her own strength and skill as a ninja.

She took up extra trainings and worked hard to hone her abilities, working at perfecting her dojutsu and learning an impressive array of genjutsu and ninjutsu. To distinguish herself, she took up the learning of advanced fuuinjutsu techniques and chose to specialize in this. She took increasing risks to ensure missions were complete and earn accolades and found that she enjoyed the attention that success and skill brought her.

She was promoted to the rank of jonin at 16, which was not particularly mentionable, but what did attract notice was her rapid improvement in skills and her newly driven nature. And not long after her promotion she did earn the attention and praise of Shoichi. Now, whether or not they were in a relationship with mutual feelings for each other is debatable and rumored, but it was clear that Tomoe was as in love with him as a teenage girl could be.

One fateful day the two were assigned to a mission. The details of what happened aren't particularly well known outside the upper ranks of Konoha, but Tomoe returned greatly changed and Shoichi did not return at all. There were rumors at the time, but these have mostly faded, and the incident is regarded largely as a tragedy.

Tomoe was still driven, and she seemed to have found some new source of inner power. Her skill as a ninja continued to improve and her commitment to her village deepened as it appeared she intended to make up for the village's loss of a skilled ninja like Shoichi. Since that time she led many squads of genins and chunins and mentored many excellent students that have gone on to become productive and accomplished ninjas in Konoha.

Her choice as the next Hokage was controversial. There was of course old and lingering bias against the Uchiha, however many felt that her record and skills were strong enough to qualify her as Hokage and she should be evaluated as her own person, particularly as the previous Hokage strongly endorsed her as a choice. It took some campaigning and work on her part, but she was able to prove herself more than enough to win over supporters within the jonin ranks. Some remain unhappy with the decision, of course, and what will become of that is something that only time will tell. She's quite set at proving that the choice of a female Uchiha for Hokage was the best one and will lead the village into a fruitful future.
