[Semifinal]Mianyi Kamiya vs. Tonou Erra [Finished]

Ever since this fight was announced on the bracket board, Mianyi was dreading it. How could it happen that she was being matched against Tonou, her fellow Sunagakure genin and teammate? She doesn't want to disappoint the Kazekage and a tiny part of her does want to win, but she doesn't want to harm Tonou. They have sparred in the past and he's taught her things, and he's been unafraid of harming her during those spars, but… this just isn't quite the same and it doesn't feel right.

She enters the arena with no small amount of anxiety and uncertainty written on her face. "Tonou…" she whispers as she looks at her opponent. With a gulp she tries to swallow her fears and doubts, pretending it's not Tonou in front of her but someone else.

She initiates an opening move by throwing two shuriken at Tonou in a left to right fashion and a kunai with an exploding tag a little further, trying to force him to dodge into a position that puts him near the exploding tag.

Tonou walks onto the stage, unphased and unconcerned about the battle before him. It was Mianyi, a fellow Suna Genin. She had just won a tough fight against a Konoha Genin, while Tonou had been pushed against a Kumo Genin. The other semifinal was over. A Konoha Uchiha awaited whoever won this fight, and Tonou couldn't help but doubt he was very strong. As Mianyi whispers his name he stares back at her, ignoring the introduction.

The two shuriken whiz at him. He dodges one while the other slices above his left shoulder, leaving a small laceration. The exploding kunai misses him to the left, but the blast sends him rolling over to the right. There he lands on one knee, staring at Mianyi.

Tonou speeds forward, rolls in front of Mianyi in anticipation to a punch or more shuriken and gains his feet in front of her, throwing a Winded Double Kick at her.

Winded Double Kick:

Inside, Mianyi wilts a little at Tonou's failure to acknowledge her. He's just going to ignore her?! Wait, Mianyi had decided that she was going to force herself to pretend this is not her teammate, and friend in a sense, Tonou. His attitude towards her helps reinforce this internal illusion and she gains a measure of confidence from it.

She prepares herself for what's coming in multiple ways - mentally, physically, and by kneading some chakra within her. She turns and tenses so that when the first kick from Tonou comes he kicks her in the side and not straight on in her gut, and she feints punching for him in a return of blows like he taught her before the tournament. Whether or not he is defending against that she can't tell, for the second blow comes almost immediately after the first. She gasps in what turns out to be a violent exhalation of poisonous mist around her and Tonou.

She is sent through the mist and lands roughly some distance away from where Tonou kicked her. She rolls to her feet and gets into a defensive stance, trying to shake the disorientation that comes from being kicked in the head so she can get ready for the next thing Tonou throws her way.

Poison Mist:

"So soon..." Tonou pushes forward through the poison mist towards Mianyi. He can feel it burning in his lungs, but he knew at one point or another it was going to come. It wasn't lethal, Tonou knew that much, so now he was against the clock. Luckily for Tonou, he was fast, and had no problem racing the clock. Tonou moves through the mist towards Mianyi without wasting any time. As he approaches her he sets to use Fury Fists.

Fury Fists:

Mianyi was only hoping to get an early edge in against Tonou. He hits hard and she wants to weaken his ability to strike her as much as possible.

She tries to head him off and keep him from getting close enough to use his fury fists by using Wind Release: Great Breakthrough to shove him away, hopefully towards the opposite end of the stadium so she can get a bit of distance between her and her taijutsu skilled friend. Thanks to him, her close quarters combat has improved slightly before the tournament, but she wouldn't consider herself at the same level.

If she is unable to keep at him from getting in close to use his jutsu, she will aim a punch at his lower abdomen and his lower ribs, trying to break them with a single chakra infused punch just like he taught her. The single attack would be slower than his flurry of fists, but might well come in the middle of his attack to interrupt it partway through.

Great Breakthrough:

Tonou is blown backwards before he can get in range to land Fury Fists. She is obviously trying to create separation between the two, and slowly but surely, Tonou is beginning to feel the effects of the poison mist. Tonou reaches down and releases both of his kunai at Mianyi. He then makes a few handseals and then uses Gone with the Wind.

Gone with the Wind:

Mianyi springs away from where she's been standing to avoid those kunai, one clipping her upper arm and drawing a long line of red. It's neither shallow nor deep, but somewhere in between and quite painful.

Mianyi will endeavor to keep Tonou at a distance and uses her Wind Release: Rotating Shuriken technique to send her remaining four shuriken at Tonou, using the technique in a mixture of offense and defense, trying to attack in a way that will drive him back and away from her, while she moves in an opposite fashion to try and maintain the distance between the two of them.

Wind Release: Rotating Shuriken:

Tonou, empowered with his Fuuton speed jutsu dodges the shuriken, but the effort has slowed down his travel towards Mianyi. Tonou remains relentless and continues to sprint towards Mianyi. Before he arrives to her however, he throws a smaller Oukashou at the ground, splitting the stadium and sending a riveting crack towards her feet.

Oukashou:

Mianyi jumps up to avoid the attack from Tonou and gathers most of her remaining chakra to unleash a last Wind Release: Great Breakthrough at Tonou to try and force him back as she did once before. Following up on this attack, she uses her last kunai with exploding tag to throw at him, hoping that the first attack knocks him back and off enough for the kunai and tag to land near enough to do some damage.

She will land roughly on the now uneven ground and stumble. With a quick signal there are suddenly two Mianyis as she uses the Clone Technique and they roll in opposite directions, forcing Tonou to choose which one to go for during his next attack.

Wind Release: Great Breakthrough:

Tonou watches her actions as she leaps and expels dubious effort in trying to keep him from gaining on her. The wind technique rivets at Tonou, but with his speed movement he side steps it. The explosion from the kunai causes him to turn his head, but he is other wise unscathed. He looks towards the crowd. People have gathered to watch the final Semi to see who will be fighting in the final. "Annoying. I've already showcased my strength. I concede."

Tonou places both hands in his pockets and walks off the stage and into the audience. The fight was over, he was ready to go home. He felt as if he had fought and shown enough for the audience to be satisfied and Suna's strength unquestioned. A very confused proctor walks onto the stage.

Winner is Mianyi Kamiya.

Mianyi stands there and looks equally confused by Tonou's actions. She stands stunned for a moment before she bows in his general direction, which is also partially for the sake of the audience. She then turns to leave as well, feeling conflicted about the whole thing.
